VIDEO | Bellator Fighter Michael “Venom” Page Says He’d Put Conor McGregor to Sleep

Michael 'Venom' Page

Conor McGregor, who is poised to challenge Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight strap at this Saturday’s UFC 205, is the biggest star in MMA. As such, he’s floated as a potential opponent for pretty much every fighter in MMA. If you’re a fighter, and you reside anywhere near the welterweight, lightweight, and featherweight divisions, chances are you’ll be asked how you think you’d fare against the Irish superstar.

This was precisely the case when streaking Bellator welterweight Michael “Venom” Page joined King of Da Hillz TV for an interview. When asked how he’d do against McGregor, “MVP” was all confidence.

“I’ll put him to sleep,” the English prospect said. “You see the thing is with that fight, because he’s got such a big name, I would want to dominate. I wouldn’t want to put him to sleep early. I would want to show people the level that I’m at in comparison to this guy.”

“He is talented,” he added. “I’m not saying that he isn’t, he is. But I’m gonna repeat, man, it’s a different level.”

Though MVP is clearly confident he’d dominate McGregor in a fight, he was willing to concede defeat to the Irishman in one area of the game: trash talk.

“On the mic, he definitely wins that battle,” MVP said. “He’s amazing, I love listening to him. He’s an exciting person and an exciting personality, but I scream that loud in the cage, I don’t do that outside the cage. That’s why I feel like we’re different.”

No matter the outcome of a potential bout with McGregor, however, MVP was careful to clarify that he is a fan of McGregor, and that he’s appreciative of what the Irish superstar has done for the sport of mixed martial arts.

“I’m a fan, don’t get me wrong. I support him, because of what he does for our sport. He’s put the whole sport on the map just because he’s such a massive character.”

MVP’s next fight will occur on the main card of Bellator 165 this November 19, when he’ll take on long-time rival Fernando Gonzales.

How do you think a fight between MVP and McGregor would play out? Sound off, PENN Nation!
