Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team were clearly watching the UFC 246 main event between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone with keen interest.
‘Mystic Mac’ and ‘Cowboy’ squared off in a highly anticipated welterweight bout this evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The former two-division UFC champion, McGregor, was able to dominate Cerrone on route to a forty-second TKO victory. The Irishman stunned ‘Cowboy’ with strikes early and then proceeded to drop him with a head kick. Soon after, the fight was called off due to ground and pound.
The promotions reigning UFC lightweight champion, Khabib (28-0), took to Twitter shortly following the conclusion of last night’s headliner with the following statement.

“History will justify us.” – Khabib Nurmagomedov wrote on Instagram.
In addition, Khabib’s Manager Ali Abdelaziz also shared a reaction to Conor’s big win at UFC 246.

”Keep my name out of your mouth boy before you get humbled again 🦅”
With the TKO victory, Conor McGregor moves to 22-4 overall in his mixed martial arts career.
The Irishman has been very vocal about his desire to have a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, but the Russian champion has showed little interest. In fact, ‘The Eagle’ even said that McGregor would have to win ten fights in a row before he would consider granting him a rematch.
With that said, UFC President Dana White appears to be very interested in booking a rematch between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, this if ‘The Eagle’ can get past Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.
Khabib has not competed since September’s UFC event in Abu Dhabi, where he submitted Dustin Poirier to reclaim his position as the undisputed UFC lightweight champion.
