Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will return to the octagon at UFC 200 on July 9 when he squares off with Frankie Edgar for the promotions interim featherweight championship.

The bout will mark Aldo’s first fight since suffering a devastating 13-second knockout loss to Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 194 this past December.

While Jose Aldo is strictly focused on the task at hand (Frankie Edgar), he is still eyeing a future rematch with the brash Irishman.

During a UFC 200 media day in Brazil, Aldo was asked what he would do if McGregor never returned to featherweight:

“We catch him in the street,” Aldo said (as transcribed by Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting). “No matter how, we will fight. F–k it.”

Aldo is also willing to move up in weight if that is what it takes to make the McGregor rematch happen:

“No way,” the Brazilian said when asked about the possibility of retiring without fighting McGregor again. “Only if he stops fighting. As long as he’s in the UFC, this fight will happen. That’s a fact. We will get the belt back and be champion again.

“We’ll move up. The UFC will do this fight. It doesn’t matter at which weight. I don’t care.”
