While Frankie Edgar has been campaigning for a title shot against Conor McGregor since his TUF 22 finale KO win over Chad Mendes, the stars could finally be aligning for a McGregor vs. Edgar fight.

With MMA being legalized in New York earlier this week, Conor McGregor’s striking coach, Owen Roddy, believes that a fight between McGregor and Edgar could be huge for the UFC’s inaugural event at the famed Madison Square Garden.

Roddy spoke to James Dielhenn of Sky Sports:

That would be amazing, realistically that would be huge for the first New York show. Madison Square Garden would be fantastic.

[McGregor and Edgar could fight] at featherweight or even at lightweight—Frankie spends a lot of time there, and he was the lightweight champion. But if Conor is on the card, it would be huge anywhere.

Before that however, McGregor has already committed to a fight at UFC 200 in July. In addition, the UFC has reportedly already issued contracts to McGregor and Nate Diaz for a welterweight rematch at UFC 200.
