Last night, video surfaced of a heated confrontation between surging UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington and UFC Sydney headliner Fabricio Werdum.
In this video, Covington claimed that the former heavyweight champ Werdum sucker punched him. In a subsequent statement to FloCombat, Werdum assured Covington was the aggressor and that he did not throw a punch. A video from UFC lightweight Dan Hooker, finally, showed Werdum whipping a boomerang at Covington.
Unsurprisingly, this pandemonium outside the Sydney fighters hotel generated reactions from several notable fighters – some of whom merely saw the footage, others of whom were actually on scene at the time the madness occurred. See some of the reactions below:
WHY DONT THEY SAY THE WHOLE FKGN STORY!!!!!!
BEFORE ANY OF THIS, COLBY KICKED HIM AND CALLED HIM A BRAZILIAN ANIMAL! HE WAS MAKING A STAND, NOT INITIATING CONFRONTATION! https://t.co/2eatvVv3c8— #OnAmission4Gold (@KelvinGastelum) November 16, 2017

While Colby Covington hasn’t addressed all of these fighter reactions, he did reply to Jon Jones, commenting on the light heavyweight great’s numerous run-ins with the law.
Wow, a criminal condoning assault with a deadly weapon. Go figure. #FilthyAnimals https://t.co/xUat0Bh79o

While it’s hard to say how all of this will shake out, Colby Covington assured BJ Penn Radio host Jason Kindschy that Fabricio Werdum will answer for what he did.
“Werdum f*cked up big time and will pay a big price,” he said.
Where do you stand on this crazy situation between Colby Covington, Fabricio Werdum, and the rest of Brazil?
