Chan Sung Jung – more widely known by his nickname “The Korean Zombie” – made a successful return to action after more than three years on the shelf, delivering a brutal first-round knockout victory over Dennis Bermudez at February’s UFC Fight Night event in Houston, Texas.
Prior to his victory over Bermudez, “The Korean Zombie” had fallen short in his attempt to dethrone Jose Aldo for the UFC’s coveted featherweight strap at UFC 163 in August of 2013.
Jung’s failed title shot was preceded by a thrilling submission defeat of Dustin Poirier, a blistering knockout of Mark Hominick, and a rare Twister submission defeat of Leonard Garcia. His overall record stands at 14-4.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Lamas (17-5 MMA) was most recently seen in action in November of 2016 where he scored a second-round submission victory over Charles Oliveira.
That victory bounced “The Bully” back into the win column as he had previously suffered a decision loss to now UFC interim featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 199 in June.
Ricardo Lamas and “The Korean Zombie” were briefly scheduled to meet back in 2013, but the fight was scrapped when Chan Sung Jung was pencilled in for his aforementioned title shot against Jose Aldo.
