Sunday night, in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Vegas’ Cody Garbrandt put on a phenomenal show against the previously undefeated Thomas Almeida, as he picked up a 1st round KO win.
On the preliminary card, #8 ranked bantamweight Bryan Caraway defeated #4 ranked Aljamain Sterling via split decision. Garbrandt’s win over Almeida put him in the top 5 rankings in the mind’s of many MMA fans.
Not according to Bryan Caraway however, who spoke to MMAJunkie:
“Garbrandt wasn’t even ranked before. “I’m not saying he isn’t an amazing, amazing fighter, but he wasn’t ranked, so for him to leapfrog above me would be ludicrous. I think I’m the highest ranked guy now that hasn’t fought for the belt.”
