Brad Pickett issues statement following retirement fight loss

UFC bantamweight veteran Brad Pickett retired following his UFC Fight Night 107 TKO loss to Marlon Vera last night in London, England.

Pickett had a strong opening two rounds utilizing some timely takedowns and ground and pound to get up on the judges scorecards 20-18 heading into round three.

However, the tide turned against “One Punch” in the final frame as Vera was able to find his range and land a variety of punches and kicks on the hometown favorite.

With a little over a minute to go in the final round, Vera caught Pickett with a head kick that sent the Englishman crashing to the canvas. From there Marlon landed a big hammer fist which prompted the referee to step in and stop the fight.

It was a very disappointing end to what was nothing short of a great career for the 38-year-old product of London.

Shortly after last night’s event, “One Punch” took to his Instagram where he issued the following statement regarding the heartbreaking loss.

I left it all in the Octagon tonight Thanks everyone for the support over the years it has been overwhelming Onto the next chapter #lastdance
