BOXING BEAT: Andre Ward Will No Longer Fight At 168

ward

Boxer Andre Ward will reportedly no longer be competing in the super middleweight division and will move up in weight to the light heavyweight division.

That’s according to Dan Rafael of ESPN, who says the WBA super middleweight champion is finished with 168 pounds and his next fight will likely be at light heavyweight, or 175.

Rafael also said that his next fight could take place on the undercard of the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto card on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here’s what he said:

“He (Ward) is working on a deal that if completed would have him on the card and as a light heavy. His days at 168 are done.”
