A middleweight bout between Joe Schilling (2-4 MMA) and Hisaki Kato (4-1 MMA) is the latest addition to June’s Bellator 139 card in Kansas.
Bellator officials recently announced the fight.
Joe “Stitch ’em Up” Schilling was most recently seen in action at April’s Bellator 136 event, where he suffered a split-decision loss to Rafael Carvalho. Prior to the setback, Schilling had scored a brutal KO victory over Melvin Manhoef in November of 2014.
Schilling now meets promotional newcomer Hisaki Kato. The 32-year-old Japanese fighter is coming off his first career loss, which he suffered to Henrique Shigemoto at March’s Heat 35 event. All four of Kato’s professional wins have come by way of TKO.
The fight announcement puts to rest any rumors of Schilling taking on former Strikeforce title challenger Phil “NYBA” Baroni, which had been swirling on the internet for some time now.
Bellator 139 takes place June 26 live from Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas. The main card is set to air on Spike TV.
