The Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Final went down this evening in Los Angeles, as Fedor Emelianenko squared off with Ryan Bader at Bellator 214.
The former PRIDE FC champion, Fedor, was last seen in action this past October, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen.
Prior his victory over Sonnen, “The Last Emperor” had scored a quick 58-second stoppage win over former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
Meanwhile, Ryan Bader had advanced to tonight’s Bellator championship fight by defeating Matt Mitrione in the tournament semi-finals by way of unanimous decision.
The fight last less than a minute, as Ryan Bader was able to catch Fedor Emelianenko with a left hand that sent “The Last Emperor” crashing to the canvas just seconds into round one. “Darth” would follow up with one final ground strike that prompted the referee to step in and stop the action.
With the win, Ryan Bader is now the Bellator MMA “champ champ”, holding both the promotions heavyweight and light heavyweight titles.
