Eddie Alvarez was recently released from Bellator MMA after a lengthy contract dispute that went back to Bjorn Rebney’s time with the promotion.
Scott Coker recently released Alvarez unconditionally, and wished him all the best in his fighting future.
The very same day that Alvarez was released, the UFC signed Alvarez and placed him in a fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC 178 on September 27th.
Now it has been revealed that Spike TV, the channel that airs Bellator MMA, will run a 90-minute special about Alvarez during his fight against Cerrone.
The special is called “Eddie Alvarez: Free On Spike”, and it will showcase Alavarez’ Fight Of The Year Bout against Mike Chandler in 2011, and then his successful rematch against Chandler in 2013.
What are your thoughts on Bellator attempting to take viewership away from UFC 178?
