A heavyweight bout between former UFC fighters Cheick Kongo and Timothy Johnson took place during tonight’s Bellator 208 main card.
Kongo (28-10-2 MMA) enters tonight’s contest on a six-fight win streak, his latest being a first-round knockout victory over Javy Ayala at Bellator 199.
Meanwhile, Timothy Johnson (12-4 MMA) will be making his promotional debut in tonight’s Bellator 208 contest with Kongo. The former UFC fighter is coming off a decision win over Marcelo Golm which occurred at UFC Fight Night 125 in February.
Round one begins and Johnson quickly takes the center of the octagon and moves forward. He throws a combination but Kongo is able to avoid. Cheick circles and then fires off a low kick. He lands another. Johnson presses forward and but eats a big right hand and appears to fall forward. Kongo allows him to hit the canvas and then begins unleashing some brutal ground and pound. The referee quickly steps in and calls a stop to the action. Another first round finish for Cheick Kongo.
