While UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier weighed in overweight for his highly anticipated UFC 210 showdown with UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier yesterday, Cormier actually weighed-in overweight for the fight. The champ stepped on the scale at 206.2 pounds, and was forced to weigh in again moments later, where he used the privacy towel to give himself leverage and offset his weight, assisting him in weighing-in without cutting the extra 1.2 pounds.

The champ has since denied that he used the towel as leverage, and explained that he simply was attempting to prevent those in attendance from seeing his manhood. Interestingly enough, in footage which surfaced after the weigh-in, Cormier can be seen telling Johnson that he was done making the cut to 205 pounds. Whether or not Cormier was being facetious remains to be seen, however in a recent interview, Johnson discussed the weigh-in situation, saying:

Anthony Johnson

“No I wasn’t aware [of Cormier missing weight and weighing in again] I’ve been getting texts left and right, it’s nothing. It’s not a big deal right now, we’ll handle everything after the fight. Right now I’ve gotta stay positive, and focus on the fight, and that’s it!”

In regards to being the last fighter to weigh-in, and then weighing-in under the required light heavyweight title fight limit of 205 pounds, ‘Rumble’ stated:

“I definitely wasn’t taking my time. My scale was off by like a pound & a half, two pounds. So that’s why I weighed-in at 203. It wasn’t on purpose.”

Johnson admitted that he wasn’t too happy about unnecessarily cutting the extra weight due to his personal scale being off, however he admitted that it certainly did make him look good when it came time to hit the official scales.

Will Johnson be able to avenge his 2015 loss to Cormier and capture UFC gold at UFC 210? Give us your predictions below PENN Nation!
