Anderson Silva is less than happy with the UFC as the former UFC middleweight kingpin still does not have a fight lined up for UFC 212.
Silva was scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum in his home country of Brazil on June 3. However, Gastelum was flagged by USADA for a potential anti-doping violation and was pulled from the fight.
Now, Silva is left without a fight for the big Brazil card and there is nothing “The Spider” wants more than to entertain his fans in his home country as many have already bought tickets with him originally scheduled to fight on the card.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, Silva was positioning himself for a UFC interim middleweight title fight against Yoel Romero for UFC 212. Silva said on The MMA Hour that he spoke with Romero’s team and they both are on the same page on making the fight for the interim belt. Silva put the pressure on the UFC saying that if the interim title fight doesn’t come together, he will likely retire from fighting.
“It no make sense if me and Yoel Romero fight for nothing,” Silva said.
Silva added that he is tired of helping the UFC by saving big fights, such as stepping in to face Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 on two days notice.
“It’s just complete bullshit,” Silva said. “I’m tired for save the ass of the UFC all the time. I’m so tired.”
Silva added that when he signed his last contract with the UFC, he was promised a Georges St-Pierre superfight by Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta upon St-Pierre’s return. However, that was not the case as St-Pierre is slated to fight Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title.
“I don’t believe nothing in Dana’s talk,” Silva added. “Because, I’m very dissapointed. I’m tired, bro. I’m sorry for talking about this, but I’m so tired.”
Host Ariel Helwani asked Silva to make it clear that if he wasn’t given the interim title fight against Romero that he would be retiring.
“Yeah. Yeah, I think I’m done,” Silva said. “I fight for long time in my life, you know? And, I’m tired, bro.”
