YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul is the betting favorite to defeat former UFC welterweight Ben Askren in their upcoming boxing superfight.
Paul and Askren meet in a highly-anticipated boxing match on April 17 that airs on Triller. Paul has had two pro boxing fights and won both of them by knockout, while Askren is making his professional boxing debut. Of course, Askren is a highly-skilled MMA fighter and has been in the Octagon with some of the top welterweight fighters in the world. Nevertheless, the bookies don’t like his chances to win this fight.
Giving an odds update, John Murray of Westgate Vegas shared the latest betting odds on the board in Vegas for the upcoming Paul vs. Askren boxing superfight.
Boxing Odds
Jake Paul -175
Ben Askren +155
Paul is a -175 betting favorite (bet $175 to win $100) to get his hand raised in this fight. Despite having less experience in combat sports than Askren, Paul actually has two professional boxing fights to his credit, which is two more than Askren’s zero. In those two fights, Paul showed incredible knockout power and hand speed as he took out Nate Robinson and AnEsonGib by stoppage. Paul looks like he could be a boxing superstar due to his ability to sell pay-per-views, and Askren is arguably the first legitimate test of his boxing career. Yet despite those questions, he is the favorite.
Askren is a +155 betting underdog (bet $155 to win $100). When the betting odds first opened up, Askren comically said to “bet the house” on him. After all, Askren is the far more proven fighter when it comes to being in a long and drawn-out fight. Outside of the Jorge Masvidal fight where he got flattened with a legendary flying knee, Askren has shown a strong chin. Of course, his striking has never been his forte, as he’s the kind of fighter who shoots immediately after hearing the bell ring. It will be intriguing to see if Askren can weather the early storm of Paul and drag the fight into deep waters, where he says he will finish the fight in the seventh round.
