Floyd Mayweather sparring partners weigh in on Conor McGregor’s treatment of Paul Malignaggi

Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor’s treatment of former two-weight boxing champion Paul Malignaggi has drawn some serious criticism from the boxing community and it’s fans.

The “Magic Man” was brought in to the McGregor camp in order to help Conor prepare for undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather who “Mystic Mac” will square off with on August 26 in Las Vegas.

Shortly after engaging in two hard sparring sessions with McGregor, Paulie found out that a member of the Irish stars team had leaked photos from their match online.

One photo in particular caused Malignaggi to get very upset, as the image showed Paul laid out on the boxing ring canvas with “Mystic Mac” standing over top of him.

With his trust in Conor seemingly broken, Malignaggi issued a statement and announced his departure from the McGregor camp.

Floyd Mayweather’s sparring partners were not impressed with the way Conor McGregor treated Paul Malignaggi.

Maurice Lee and Daquan Mays (Mayweather’s sparring partners) both spoke with MMAFighting about “Mystic Mac’s” poor treatment of the “Magic Man”.

Maurice Lee:

“It shows a lot,” Lee told MMA Fighting. “It shows [McGregor is] more focused on the show than the actual skill. He should be focused on the boxing, not trying to post stuff like that this close to the fight. He should be more focused, I feel. Because Floyd is very focused.”

Daquan Mays:

“Floyd is real respectful, man,” Mays told MMA Fighting. “Treats you good, pays good. End of the day, gives you good recognition. He’s not the kind of guy that punches on you and tells everybody else to talk about you and brags about it. You don’t win fights in the gym. You do — but fights aren’t held in the gym. So there’s no point to brag about what you did in the gym. ‘I got a knockout in the gym, I got a stoppage in the gym.’ That’s gym work. It’s not about what goes on in the camp, it’s about what goes on when the lights shine on you.”
