“I started training [for MMA] But then I had to start focusing back on promoting these fighters. ‘Cause these fighters I want these fighters to surpass me not be like me. To be in the sport and make over a billion dollars, I didn’t do it by myself.”

Boxing legend and icon, Floyd Mayweather has been able to keep his name in the public eye despite re-retiring after his August boxing showdown with the then UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor. And in the first half of 2018, he’s been doing so by teasing a try at MMA.

Mayweather’s teases have ranged in formats from videos of him inside of a cage at the  Syndicate MMA gym in Las Vegas to posting photos on Instagram such as the one used for this article.

But it wouldn’t stop with just social media posts, Mayweather would call on for the aid of UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley to help him start his training. Woodley would accept the invitation.

Ready to get back to action himself is the champion, Woodley who has said he hopes for a return in July or August. With the interim title fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Colby Covington happening on June 9th, it will be interesting to see how things play out involving Woodley.

Last week, Woodley said that this week he and Mayweather would begin their training together. Whether or not he was truly serious about it, after the press conference over the weekend for the Badou Jack vs Adonis Stevenson fight, it looks like Mayweather will be putting that all on hold for the foreseeable future.
