Tomorrow night, in the main event of UFC 229, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor will return to the cage to battle undefeated lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nate Diaz, who is 1-1 with Conor McGregor across two previous bouts, is bound to be watching this fight with particular interest.
Speaking to TMZ, Nate Diaz weighed in on this UFC 229 main event showdown. It sounds like he’s leaning toward McGregor.
“I already told you about those guys, I slapped the shit out of both of them,” he said. “They need to quit acting like them motherf*ckers are running shit. There’s one king in this motherf*cker and he’s right here.”
“I think Conor’s got a way better fighting style,” Diaz continued. “Khabib’s scared for his life, so I don’t know how good he’s going to do with that. He might get scared and hold on for his life. I hope that’s not happening for the sake of fighting. We don’t need two boring ass champions.”
If it sounds like Nate Diaz is pulling for his rival Conor McGregor personally, think again. He just wants the person he considers a real fighter to win.
“I ain’t pulling for nobody,” he said. “Double knockout as far as I’m concerned. But let’s get something. Let’s get a fight. No bitch-ass hold on for your life, ‘I work so hard’… That boy [Nurmagomedov] ain’t fought nobody. He went and grabbed on for his life against everybody. He fights like a scared little bitch. I’m going for the fighters in this one.”
“I’m not going for anyone, but as far as fighting style, I got for the fighters usually.”
Interestingly, Nate Diaz also claimed he has no interested in a tie-breaking trilogy fight with Conor McGregor, as he feels he’s already beat the Irishman twice.
“I ain’t fighting no trilogy,” he said. “He already got his ass whipped. He can fight everybody else, I got shit to do too.”
Nate Diaz also assured he’s not interested in fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“I don’t wanna fight no boring ass fighter,” he said. “I already slapped the guy on the street and that motherf*cker didn’t do shit. And then he tried to roll up with his boys and I slapped all those motherfuckers too. Pussies.”
Nate Diaz returns to the cage against Dustin Poirier in the co-main event (we think) of UFC 230 on November 3.
