UFC veteran Clay Guida drops his assault case agaisnt Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz Clay Guida

UFC staple Clay Guida (34-18 MMA) has decided to drop his assault case against former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz (19-11 MMA).

MMAJunkie reported the news yesterday after speaking with Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Shaun Hampton.

Hampton told the MMAJunkie staff that Clay Guida declined to move forward on a misdemeanor battery complaint against Nate Diaz effectively ending the case.

The alleged incident took place at “Combate Americas: Mexico vs. USA” event back in May. According to Guida’s manager John Fosco, Nate Diaz had shoved Clay Guida from behind into a metal guardrail. Guida suffered a bloody lip from the collision and filed a police report shortly thereafter.

Prior to the incident, Clay Guida had been pushing for a rematch with Nate Diaz, whom he defeated back in 2009 via decision.

Nate Diaz is slated to make his highly anticipated octagon return at UFC 230 this November at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The “Stockton Slugger” is set to face surging division contender Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier at the pay-per-view event which takes place November 3.

Nate Diaz was last seen in action at UFC 202 in August of 2016 where he suffered a controversial majority decision loss to Conor McGregor.

Prior to that, Nate Diaz was coming off a thrilling short-notice submission victory over “Mystic Mac” which occurred at UFC 196 in March of 2016.

Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier has now won three fights in a row and eight of his past ten overall.

During that impressive streak “The Diamond” has scored wins over Joseph Duffy, Bobby Green, Jim Miller, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and most recently former champion Eddie Alvarez.

Who are you picking to emerge victorious when Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier throw down in the co-main event of UFC 230 on November 3 in New York City? Sound off in the comments section PENN Nation!
