The MMA Community was up early this morning, well at least fans in North America, this to watch today’s UFC Fight Night event from Singapore.
The event was headlined by a welterweight showdown featuring streaking division contender Leon Edwards taking on the always dangerous veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
Leon Edwards entered today’s contest riding a five-fight win streak, while his opponent Donald Cerrone had gone just 1-3 over his past four octagon appearances.
The highly anticipated welterweight main event was a back and forth affair that would end up going the full twenty-five minutes.
Edwards started off very strongly, arguably winning the contests first three rounds.
However, “Cowboy” would make a late charge which had many fans and analysts debating how the fight would be scored overall.
In the end, the judges in attendance awarded Leon Edwards a much deserved 48-47 unanimous decision victory.
Here is how the MMA Community reacted to today’s UFC Singapore main event:
I have that 3-2 Leon Edwards, but could see anything happening from 4-1 Edwards to 3-2 Cerrone.

Cerrone takes the final round for me. I've got it 49-46 for Edwards who goes the distance in a 5 round fight for the first time in his career. Will be interesting to see the judges scorecards here. You could make a case for Cerrone taking rounds 3 and 4 too.— Chamatkar Sandhu (@SandhuMMA) June 23, 2018

No bonus for Donald Cerrone for the sixth consecutive fight. That's the longest stretch of his 38-fight UFC/WEC tenure without earning any extra fight-night cash. #UFCSingapore

Cowboy's #UFC record is now 20-8.
Every fighter in the top 23 of most UFC bouts has at least 7 losses (except Frankie Edgar, who has 6).#randomstat

I asked @GamebredFighter’s manager @Abraham_kawa what they thought of Edwards’ win and callout.
“Jorge is sleeping,” Kawa said.
