A Violent Welterweight Scrap is Slated for Mid-April UFC Fight Night

Carlos Condit in the Octagon

Carlos Condit: A calculated buzzsaw of a kickboxer. Matt Brown: A relentless muay thai brawler incapable of being counted out or having a bad fight. Somehow, some way, these two have never fought each other before. Call it just coincidence, or perhaps the universe knowing that we simply weren’t ready for the amount of violence these two would produce, it simply never happened. Now it looks like the MMA gods have deemed it time. Carlos Condit and Matt Brown are expected to finally square off at April 17th at a yet to be determined location.

First reported by Damon Martin of MMA Weekly, this insane clash is just one of the many wild match-ups that the UFC have kicked off 2018 by announcing. As different as they are, it’s nearly like Matt Brown or Carlos Condit will be fighting a clone, or perhaps a brother. If this goes on the same card as Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier’s rumored scrap, our world may just implode. Of course, we’ll announce the location and the match-up as soon as it is confirmed by the UFC.

Carlos Condit just recently returned after considering retirement, but fell short in his fight against top welterweight contender Neil Magny. This has resulted in him stacking up three straight losses, but to competition including former champion Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia. This may be the fight that decides his ultimate future in MMA. Matt Brown knows all too well how Condit feels. He was on a three fight losing streak himself, but recently rebounded with a devastating elbow knockout against fellow veteran Diego Sanchez.
