Mike Perry reacts to defeat to Santiago Ponzinibbio

Mike Perry vs Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC on Fox 26

Last night, in the second bout of the UFC on Fox 26 main card, all-action welterweight prospect “Platinum” Mike Perry stepped into the Octagon for the biggest bout of his career, a scrap with 10th-ranked welterweight contender Santiago Ponzinibbio.

Despite a very valiant effort – throughout which he badly bloodied his dangerous foe – Perry came up short in this fight, losing a unanimous decision after three wild rounds.

Luckily, the ever-entertaining welterweight star appears to be taking it all in stride. Shortly after his loss to Ponzinibbio, he took to Twitter with a short on thoughtful statement.

“Next one’s the best one,” he said in one Tweet.

“Glory to god,” he added. “He keeps me strong! He kept me standing!”

This loss to Ponzinibbio is just Perry’s second taste of defeat. With this outcome, he returns to the loss column after absolutely violent knockout wins over Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes. The fan favorite is now 11-2 overall, and 4-2 in the Octagon.

His opponent Ponzinibbio, meanwhile, has extended his current win-streak to six-straight. This streak is highlighted by exciting wins over Court McGee, Zak Cummings, Nordine Taleb, Gunnar Nelson, and now Mike Perry. Now a fantastic 26-3 overall, Ponzinibbio called post-fight for an interim welterweight title fight with the winner of UFC on Fox 26’s Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael dos Anjos main event.

What do you think comes next for “Platinum” Mike Perry? Who would you like to see him fight?
