A key lightweight tilt between Edson Barboza and Beneil Dariush took place during tonight’s UFC Fight Night 106 main card in Brazil.
Round one begins and Dariush throws a high kick that is blocked. The fighters trade low kicks. Dariush with a left hand. Both men landing kicks early. Barboza moving well. He fires a high kick that partially lands. Dariush is landing some good shots. Barboza fires back with a leg kick. He is moving well, but Dariush is chopping away with low kicks and punches. Barboza finally lands a big low kick. Dariush fires back with a big left. Round one comes to an end.
Round two begins and Barboza lands a nice left to start. Beneil charges forward and lands a good combination. Edson circles and then comes forward with a hard kick to the body. He follows that up with a combination. Another good left hand from Edson. Dariush misses with an uppercut and Barboza counters with a left hand. Beneil ducks under a punch and attempts a takedown. It is not there. Barboza circles out. Beneil lands a nice leg kick. Edson replies with a solid leg kick of his own. Dariush charges forward with strikes but Edson avoids the attempted strikes. Edson with a left. He circles out and then lands a leg kick. Barboza connects with a groin kick and so the referee steps in and stops the action. Beneil recovers and we restart. Dariush with a leg kick and then a good knee inside. Edson throws a flying knee that connects to the jaw and Dariush is out cold. WOW!
