McGregor’s coach on knockout report: “Not everything you read on the Internet is true.”

Following a report on Monday of Conor McGregor being knocked out while sparring in preparation for his UFC 205 title fight with Eddie Alvarez, SBG’s head coach John Kavanagh took to Twitter to vaguely dispel the report.

MMA insider Dizz had tweeted that McGregor was “shaky getting back to his feet” and with a possibly broken nose after a sparring session at Straight Blast Gym in McGregor’s native Ireland.

Coach Kavanagh posted a cheeky photo of himself with an aluminum foil hat, a common reference for conspiracy theorists, captioning it “I want to believe.”

While Kavanagh did not directly answer or address the report, he did seem to laugh it off as an Internet rumor and nothing more.

McGregor is set to take on lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden for UFC 205. Should ‘Mystic Mac’ make good on his prediction, he will be the first fighter in UFC history to hold championship belts in two weight divisions simultaneously.

McGregor himself has yet to respond to the sparring knockout report himself as of Monday afternoon.

Still no word yet on any official injury that could prevent the featherweight champion from competing at the historic first event in New York next month.
