Jon Jones NSAC hearing postponed

Jon Jones

It looks as though the MMA community will have to wait longer for the return of pound for pound kingpin, interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. After it was revealed last month that Jones would be appearing in front of the NSAC on October 10th along with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, who could be facing repercussions for their UFC 202 water bottle fight, many expected Jones to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later given that UFC President Dana White previously stated that Jones’ appeal process was going well.

Unfortunately, just five days before his set hearing date, the hearing was postponed according to Fox Sports. The report also states that Jones has received a new hearing date, this one being in November.

The interim light heavyweight champ also posted a message on social media regarding the situation, revealing that the meeting was postponed, however ‘Bones’ was quick to delete the Tweet.

Jones has been temporarily suspended since July, ahead of UFC 200. With just 48 hours to go before the event, Jones was notified of a potential anti-doping violation stemming from a June out-of-competition drug test. Jones was subsequently pulled from his main event scrap with light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, and replaced by Anderson Silva, who fought Cormier in a non-title fight.

Jones has maintained his innocence throughout the appeal process, stating multiple times that he didn’t take performance enhancing drugs. While Jones recently stated that his appeal process was going well, UFC President Dana White stated that Jones very well could be back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.

Jones’ appeal process is reportedly going so well that White was contemplating booking an interim light heavyweight title defense for Jones with Anthony Johnson. So far given that Jones has yet to appear in front of the NSAC, there have been no further developments in regards to a fight between the pair.
