‘Mystic Mac’ is back!

With just one week left until Conor McGregor’s scheduled UFC 202 fight with Nate Diaz, the featherweight champ is still confident that he can become the UFC’s first ever 3-division champion.

After winning the UFC featherweight championship at UFC 194 by knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds, McGregor was slated to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship at UFC 196. Leading up to that fight, McGregor was confident he would be a 3-division champ by the end of 2016.

Unfortunately for McGregor, dos Anjos broke his foot and was replaced by Nate Diaz, who handed McGregor his first UFC loss. Ahead of his rematch with Diaz, McGregor spoke about his potential return to featherweight, as well as his hopes of being a 3-divison champ:

“I’m the world champion, of course I’m going to defend that title sometime in the future, but we’ll see what happens after this fight.”

“You’re damn right it’s (I plan to be two-division world champion),” he said. “If Dos Anjos hadn’t pussied out of our last fight, the shots I hit Nate with in the first 8 or 9 minutes would’ve KO’d Dos Anjos. I would be sitting here with a belt here, and a belt there.”

“But some things happen for a reason, and it forced me to reevaluate before things got too sloppy. I’m happy it happened, but most certainly I envision two, possibly three, belts on my shoulder.”
