Newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez knows what it’s like to go into the championship rounds and come out victorious. Alvarez has had two championship five-round fights that have gone the distance in his professional MMA career and both times he was awarded the victory.
With Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz going into their five-round title fight main event at UFC 202, Alvarez spoke with Chael Sonnen about the matchup on Sonnen’s “You’re Welcome” podcast and feels that “The Notorious” simply isn’t a championship five-round type of competitor. Both Alvarez and Sonnen are picking Diaz to take the win over McGregor because they feel that the same thing that happened in their first meeting at UFC 196 will happen in their rematch at UFC 202.
