Ronda Rousey and the UFC shocked the world when they revealed the champion’s next challenger would be Holly Holm, instead of top contender Miesha Tate. “Cupcake” was coming fresh off a one-sided unanimous decision win against Jessica Eye that supposedly earned her the shot at bantamweight gold.
Rousey pulled the rug out from under the perennial challenger when she announced Holm as her opponent on Good Morning America and Tate felt like she was “shot in the heart”. She found out through text message from her friends, rather than a phone call from her boss. UFC’s Aljamain Sterling claims to have some insider information on why Tate didn’t get the title shot, and it may catch you off guard:
