Conor McGregor cemented his place in UFC history during the main-event of Saturday’s “UFC 189” when he defeated Chad Mendes for the Interim UFC Featherweight Championship.
The fight, originally scheduled to be Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor, took place in front of 16,019 screaming fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for a live gate of $7.2 million. UFC President Dana White revealed the impressive numbers during the UFC 189 Post Fight Press Conference.
White stated that the $7.2 million gate is a new record for mixed martial arts in the United States of America.
