The Official UFC Fighter Rankings have been released and there were some BIG changes after ‘UFC on FOX 15’. Paige VanZant, Max Holloway and Luke Rockhold all made jumps.
Flyweight: Jussier Formica jumps up a spot to #4, now tied with John Moraga. Previously ranked 8th, Kyoji Horiguchi jumps above Zach Makovsky this week. Now ranked #7, Horiguchi is getting ready for the fight of his life as he prepares to challenge division champion Demetrious Johnson.
Bantamweight: Iuri Alcantara and Mitch Gagnon both drop down two spots while Takeya Mizugaki and Frankie Saenz only drop down one. Previously unranked Aljamain Sterling soars to #10 while Eddie Wineland gets bumped up to #6.
Featherweight: Max Holloway jumps up three spots to #6, but is still ranked under #5 Cub Swanson who didn’t lose a spot this week. Dennis Bermudez, Nik Lentz and Charles Oliveira all dropped a spot because of Holloway’s jump.
Lightweight: Benson Henderson drops to #6 while opponent Michael Johnson jumps above him. Neither fighter fought recently. Tony Ferguson jumps to #12 while Al Iaquinta rocks lucky #13.
Welterweight: Gunnar Nelson drops to #14 as Ryan LaFlare takes his spot at #13.
Middleweight: Luke Rockhold soars to the top of the division and is now the number one contender according to the rankings. Jacare Souza drops to #2 while Machida drops two spots to #4, just under Vitor Belfort.
Light Heavyweight: Patrick Cummins’ loss caused him to drop to #13 which allowed Fabio Maldonado to take his spot at #12.
Heavyweight: Matt Mitrione jumps up a spot to #12, now tied with Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.
Women’s Strawweight: BIG changes in this division. Paige VanZant, previously ranked #12, jumps up five spots to #7! This caused Joanne Calderwood to drop another spot, now ranked #8. Felice Herrig dropped three spots to #11 and Heather Clark got bumped to #12.
Women’s Bantamweight: Ronda Rousey, of course, remains at the top of her throne. There were a couple Top 10 changes as Amanda Nunes stole Liz Carmouche’s #8 spot. Carmouche is now #9.
