A highly anticipated lightweight matchup between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov is reportedly in the work’s for the UFC 187.

While not official, UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1 reported that the bout is being heavily considered.

UFC 187 is expected to take place on May 23, from a yet to be announced venue.

Donald Cerrone has risen to star status after an impressive seven-fight win streak, and a fight anywhere-anyone-anyplace attitude.

Nurmagomedov could very well be the next Russian mega-star. The undefeated sambo master has looked nearly unstoppable in route to his impressive 22-0 record.

If the bout comes to fruition, it will likely be for a chance at the title.
