UFC 205 is just days away from what many are calling the biggest UFC card ever, which will go down at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Headlining the historic card will be UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez defending his belt for the first time against UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. If Alvarez gets his hand raised above “The Notorious,” his stock will surely shoot through the roof taking out one of the biggest stars in the sport. On the other hand, if McGregor finds victory over Alvarez this Saturday, he will make history once again by becoming the first concurrent two-weight UFC champion.
However, it seems like Alvarez is not worried about the champion of the 145-pound weight division. In the UFC 205 Embedded: Vlog Series – Episode 1, it starts off with Alvarez saying he feels like he has the upper hand in the mental warfare going into the bout.
“Conor McGregor, this guy is so offensive-minded and never on the defense that whenever you put him on the defense, he gets so flustered and so upset,” Alvarez said. “At a certain point in our press conference call, he got desperate. He started talking about my wife and kids and things like that. And that’s just a, that for me, is just a sign of desperation. You don’t talk about another man’s family unless you’re like through the roof pissed off.”
“If we were in a fight and I was putting him on the defense, I looked at that like this man is just closing his eyes throwing bolo’s. Just to see him cross that, it’s good. It’s a good sign for me. He’s already on tilt.”
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor arrived in New York two weeks early to get ready for his big fight.
“Just more of the same. Hard f—-ing work,” McGregor said. “Day in, day out. I’m here in New York nice and early, two weeks out with camp. We’re back at it. Another day. Hard fu—ing work.”
