Unfortunate news surfaced Saturday morning that UFC vet Tim Hague was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering what is being called a “serious brain injury” during his boxing match with Adam Braidwood.
Hague hit the canvas hard late in the fight after being dropped with a thundering punch. While he regained consciousness inside the ring, he was then taken to the hospital.
So far no further details are available, however you can see the devastating knockout in the video above shortly after the 25 minute mark.
Hague jumped out to an impressive start in his MMA career, going 9-1 before signing with the UFC in 2009, where he picked up his first UFC win by defeating Pat Berry via submission. Unfortunately for the Canadian, he then dropped three straight losses before then returning to the Canadian regional scene in 2010. After going on a 2-fight win streak that saw him pick up back to back KO wins, Hague returned to the UFC, where he dropped a 1st round TKO to Matt Mitrione in 2011.
Hague never fought in the UFC again, sticking to the Canadian regional scene as he went 9-8 over the next several years, most recently dropping a KO loss to Michael Andryszak in Russia last summer.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available, and keep Tim Hague in your thoughts during this time.
