Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor were both on a path that was supposed to meet earlier this year at “UFC 189” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dana White shelled out a ridiculous amount of money in advertising for the videos surrounding Aldo and McGregor’s championship matchup and it was expected to be one of the biggest events of the year. Of course, the gods of mixed martial arts decided fans didn’t deserve to see the matchup and Aldo was sidelined with a rib injury just weeks before the fight was scheduled to take place.

Instead of fighting Aldo, McGregor went head-to-head with Chad Mendes who lost the interim-championship fight in the second round. Now, McGregor will be holding a belt in the weeks leading into his fight with fellow-champion Aldo for the biggest featherweight bout in the history of the sport.
