UFC strawweight Paige VanZant was scheduled to fight Joanne Calderwood for her first main event fight at UFC Fight Night 80 in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 10. Apparently that has changed and VanZant is getting a new opponent, according to her teammate at Team Alpha Male. Justin Buchholz announced the change in opponent on the team’s radio show.
“I’ve got a huge announcement. So I found out that Paige VanZant’s opponent… Calderwood’s out. She’s out. Paige, she’s fighting Rose Namajunas,” Buchholz said. “That’s a main event slot, so it’s going to be an awesome fight.”
The reason behind Calderwood being pulled from the fight is unknown.
