Let’s be honest, Ronda Rousey being a favorite to win isn’t exactly earth shattering news. So it was expected that she would come out as the betting favorite over newly announced opponent Holly Holm, who she will meet at UFC 195 in Las Vegas on Jan. 2, but it’s a little shocking to see just how big of a favorite she is.
After the shocking early morning fight announcement, BestFightOdds.com has Rousey opening up as a -1250 (12.5 to 1) favorite over +825 (8.25 to 1) Holly Holm.
Again, we knew she would be a big favorite, but 12.5-1???
To put that into perspective, Rousey is a 3.2 to 1 favorite over Cyborg and 12 to 1 favorite for the potential third match with Tate.
It’s obvious at this point why everyone considers Rousey to be unbeatable. I mean, when you take people out in under a minute over and over again, people are going to start getting the picture. Her most recent “Fight” was a 34 second thrashing of Bethe Correia, a fight Rousey said would be a lot longer than her past fights, I blame Correia’s head.
Holm is of course undefeated and has exciting finishes in a lot of her fights outside of the UFC. In the octagon, where she’s 2-0, her fights have been solid, but anything from attention grabbing. She is known for her striking, being a former pro boxer, but we all saw what Rousey just did, so can we even give that advantage to her.
It truly is hard to imagine a way that Holm wins this fight at this stage in her MMA career, but hey, we’re still going to watch.
