Prior to UFC 194, UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum revealed that Conor McGregor’s manager reached out to Kings MMA to ask if McGregor could train there. McGregor ultimately won the fight via KO in just 13 seconds to claim the UFC featherweight championship.
Now, McGregor’s manager has refuted Werdum’s claims that McGregor ever tried to train at Kings MMA, insisting that ‘Notorious’ keeps his circle small and only trains under John Kavanagh.
He spoke to MMAFighting:
“That is not true. Only contact we ever made to Kings was someone from my office had called there to see if Uriah Hall can train there, but no one called us back on Uriah. Never would’ve or could’ve called for Conor as he doesn’t train with anyone else other than his coach John Kavanagh and his own teammates he brings in. He keeps his circle small, so this is someone making things up and feeding lies to Werdum. Kings is down the street from our offices in Orange County and I have the utmost respect for Rafael and that camp, but this just isn’t true.”
