Ronda Rousey could be one of the few stars of the octagon to crossover into mainstream media, and UFC Chairman & CEO Lorenzo Fertitta couldn’t be happier about it!
Rousey’s stock has increased tenfold since her dominant victory over Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on August 1st. UFC is no stranger to having their athletes become role models, but Rousey has the ability to appeal to an age group that no other fighter has been able to before: teenage females. Fertitta talked about it in a recent interview with CNBC:
“We’re already seeing it. We’re getting exposure now— or she’s getting exposure now, in magazines like Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Vogue. Those aren’t the typical news outlets that would necessarily cover the Ultimate Fighting Championship. So she’s breaking down those barriers and bringing a whole new group of fans that want to watch her fight. We’ve heard of fourteen year old girls getting together and having UFC parties to watch her fight.”
Could Ronda Rousey take her fame to the next level by fighting ‘Cyborg’? Do you think the fight will ever happen? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
