Will he wait or won’t he? That is the question. UFC lightweight Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has been on a tear and is now the number one contender and next in line for a shot at Rafael dos Anjos.
The only problem with that is the champ is still out until December, healing from an injury, and Cerrone has already expressed his displeasure with having to wait, even Tweeting about it recently, implying that he would want another fight before than.
His coach, Greg Jackson, plans on doing everything he needs to, to make sure he waits for that shot. Here’s what he told Inside MMA.
“If we have to kidnap him, handcuff him to a chair, and tie him down until that title fight happens, then that’s what we’re going to have to do – if that’s what it takes. ‘Cowboy’ is so close to me. He’s like a brother. I love him to death. But we’ve actually got to wait for the title shot.
“It’s going to be hard. It’s probably going to be the biggest test of his career – it’s not the actual fight, but the waiting for the actual fight. So hopefully he can make it through that test and get to the fight.”
