Despite Chael Sonnen announcing his retirement prior to being handed a 2-year suspension from the NSAC back in July of 2014, there has been much speculation as to whether or not Sonnen will return to the sport when his suspension is up.
‘The American Gangster’ recently shut the door on talks of a potential return by saying “I am not coming back.” However that hasn’t stopped anyone from asking the 3-time title challenger if he intends to stay retired.
Sonnen’s suspension is set to expire on July of 2016, right around the time of UFC 200, which many expect Sonnen to return for.
He spoke on The MMA Hour to refute those rumors.
“I haven’t been offered any fight for UFC 200. I’m suspended somewhere real close to there, so I don’t think that’s realistic anyway.”
“(Am) I getting the itch (to fight)? Man, I never really lose it. When I go to bed at night, I do still fantasize about that. But I fantasize about a lot of things.”
Do you think we will ever see Chael Sonnen back in the UFC?
