The Hawaiian champion, Max Holloway (18-3 MMA), was most recently seen in action at June’s UFC 212 event in Brazil, where he earned a third-round TKO victory over Jose Aldo to become the UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion of the world.

The win marked Holloway’s eleventh victory in a row. Prior to defeating Aldo at UFC 212, “Blessed” had scored a third-round stoppage victory over former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 in Toronto.

Holloway’s last loss came way back in August of 2013 where he suffered a unanimous decision setback to current UFC lightweight champion of the world Conor McGregor.

Meanwhile, prior to losing to Max Holloway at UFC 212 in Brazil, Jose Aldo (26-3 MMA) was coming off a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight title holder Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 in July of 2016.

Jose Aldo has gone 8-2 since joining the UFC ranks in April of 2011. During that time he defended the UFC featherweight championship on six occasions against opponents Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes (2x), Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas.
