This past weekend in Manchester, England, fight fans tuned in for a spectacular night of fights from the Manchester Arena, headlined by a 5-round war between UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, and MMA legend Dan Henderson.
The entire card was praised by fans for being an impressive one filled with numerous finishes. In the main event of the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card, England’s own Danny Robert went to war with heavy handed Mike Perry. The fight saw both men pouring their hearts out throughout the course of the fight, with Perry dropping Roberts several times throughout the fight. In the third round, both men were noticeably exhausted, however Perry managed to continue his undefeated streak as he landed a knee and followed up with punches to secure the KO win.
On the Fox Sports 1 prelims, every fight was finished, however the one that drew the most praise from fans was Iuri Alcantara’s 1st round submission win over Brad Pickett. Alcantara landed a spinning elbow that dropped Pickett early, which lead to the fight being taken to the ground. What occurred from there was a grappling exchange that was nothing short of unbelievable as Alcantara went for a mounted triangle. Pickett defended the submission, as the pair rolled and Alcantara switched from triangle, to armbar, and then back to triangle again to ultimately secure the submission win.
On the main card, England’s own Jimi Manuwa picked up a stunning KO win of Ovince Saint Preux as he slipped a jab and went to the body, and then slipped another jab and landed a hook behind the ear of OSP, dropping the heavy handed fighter for a KO win.
In the main event, Dan Henderson stepped into the Octagon for the final time as he and Michael Bisping put on one of the best fights of 2016. Bisping was dropped in both the first and second rounds, however he showed the heart of a champion as he continued to out-strike Henderson en route to a unanimous decision win.
