Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw is currently gearing up for his bantamweight title fight with Cody Garbrandt, which has not received an official fight date yet.
Ahead of the fight, Dillashaw has been training with, Vasyl Lomanchenko two-time Olympic gold medalist, and owner of a 7-1 professional record, as well as a 396-1 amateur record.
Dillashaw spoke to ES News to discuss the training session, saying:
“He put it on me. He’s animal. He’s a cardio machine. He doesn’t give you a break. So much respect. Just to share the ring with the guy was amazing. I would never pass up the opportunity. I wish I was in a little bit better shape, but it was amazing.”
“Turning you into punches, that’s his thing,” he said. “He gets those angles where you can’t find him. You’re looking, and as soon as you find him, he’s hitting you. It was amazing. I’m a guy who wants to use angles and use footwork, so I can learn a lot from him. I really hope I get to continue to work with him.”
Above you can see a brief clip of Dillashaw sparring the Olympian.
Dillashaw of course, as we mentioned above, is currently gearing up for his bantamweight title fight with Cody Garbrandt, who is currently coaching opposite Dillashaw on The Ultimate Fighter, where things have been extremely heated given the pair’s beef, which Dillashaw believes is unnecessary, regarding Dillashaw’s departure from Team Alpha Male.
While the season has yet to begin airing, promo videos from the season show things getting extremely heated between Garbrandt and Dillashaw, with the champ grabbing Dillashaw by the throat in one of the promo videos that has been released.
Still no word on when the pair will end up fighting.
