In the main event of UFC 204, Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson went to war!
The fight, which took place at the Melbourne Stadium in England, was set to be Henderson’s final fight before retiring from MMA. In addition, the fight served as Bisping’s first title defense, giving him the opportunity to avenge his UFC 100 loss to Henderson seven years ago.
In the first round, Bisping came out aggressive, however Henderson managed to land his signature H-Bomb, dropping Bisping midway through the round and landing some brutal elbows from half guard. In championship fashion, Bisping survived the onslaught and managed to get back to his feet.
It was more of the same in the second round as Bisping continued to be the aggressor, outworking Henderson with his volume striking. However once again Henderson managed to drop Bisping with his signature H-Bomb.
Ultimately, throughout the remainder of the fight, Bisping’s cardio began to be the X-Factor as he continued to out-work Henderson, landing a tremendous volume of strikes to ultimately earn him the unanimous decision win.
During his post-fight Octagon speech, Bisping praised Henderson, who he acknowledged as an MMA legend. In addition, Henderson confirmed that this was indeed his last fight, and that at 46 years old, and after nineteen years competing in MMA professionally, he would be stepping away from MMA.
