Ahead of Francisco Trinaldo’s UFC Fight Night: Brazil scrap against Paul Felder next month, the UFC vet is preparing in quite the interesting way.
Trinaldo, who comes into the bout on a massive 6-fight win streak, can be seen in the video above sparring blindfolded in preparation for his bout.
Trinaldo’s coach, Andre Dida explained the strange practice to MMAFighting, saying:
“Our goal with this specific training I invented is to help the athlete listen to the corner. There are several ways to work this connection between coach and fighter. The fighter needs to trust his corner. I put ‘Massaranduba’ there to work and follow his corners, and believe that the cornerman can help him win the fight. It’s a different way to train, out of your comfort zone. We can’t do this all the time, but you have to be creative and learn new things.”
