It surely seems like UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor feels he is overtaking the entire UFC promotion.
On Saturday, McGregor was a part of a live Q&A with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, which was streamed on the internet with a pay-per-view charge.
Going into the event, “The Notorious” posted a bold message to social media. McGregor posted a photo of himself making his way into the event and said the following in the caption:
“I’m so made!
Heading to do a Q and A in front of 5000 fans! You read that right. That’s more than UFC attendance tonight. And it’s on PPV at http://www.notoriouslive.co
Fuck the UFC. Fuck Floyd. Fuck boxing. Fuck the WWE. Fuck Hollywood. And fuck you too pay me.”
Following the UFC on FOX 23 fights that happened in Denver, Colorado, UFC President Dana White spoke with the media and was questioned about what his thoughts were on McGregor’s message.
“I didn’t hear all that,” White said of McGregor’s comments as his focus was surely invested in the fights at the time. “Hey, listen — when you’re about to go on and do a pay-per-view that you’re charging five bucks to listen to you talk, I’m sure you gotta say some pretty crazy shit. Um, you know how I feel about Conor. You know, I’ve always shown Conor nothing but respect and if he wants to go down that road with us, let me tall you, it’ll be an epic fall.”
When questioned if he thinks that the relationship will go down that road and get ugly, White said he wasn’t sure but it won’t be his decision.
“I don’t know. It’s not up to me,” White said as it all depends on how Conor McGregor wants to go about his relationship with the UFC.
Do you think Conor McGregor will lash out against the UFC and try to do things on his own? Or will the UFC’s contract hold “The Notorious” on a short leash? Sound off in the comments!
