At the UFC 205 press conference Tuesday afternoon, Conor McGregor was quick to begin his verbal onslaught of UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez ahead of their highly anticipated lightweight title fight in the main event of UFC 205 in November.
Throughout the course of the press conference, the men exchanged verbal blows, with the crowd’s reaction appearing to indicate that McGregor was getting the better of Alvarez on the mic.
One fan decided to take things to an entirely new level when he posed as a media member for the final question of the press conference. When the man was handed the mic he began to ask Alvarez a question, however quickly changed his tune and began to talk trash to the lightweight champ on McGregor’s behalf. McGregor cheered the man on as the crowd went wild inside the Madison Square Garden.
Above you can see the video of the exchange.
McGregor and Alvarez’ fight for the lightweight belt isn’t only headlining a historic event, it has set the stage for McGregor to enter into the UFC history books with a win. With UFC President Dana White stating that McGregor must vacate one of the belts if he wins at UFC 205, a win would make McGregor the first man to simultaneously hold 2 UFC titles, although the 2-division reign would end rather quickly if White ends up making McGregor vacate one of the belts. In addition, a win would see McGregor become just the 3rd man in UFC history to become a 2-division champion, with Randy Couture, and our very own BJ Penn being the first two.
