Former Team Alpha Male teammates are now on clashing as UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and former champion TJ Dillashaw star as opposing coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. The two will meet in a five-round title fight at UFC 213 on July 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada to settle their differences.
You have likely seen the previews for the season showing a glimpse of Garbrandt choking Dillashaw during one of the shows and the full video of the incident was just released.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw are seen standing next to each other with their teams getting prepared for their fighters to weigh in. The trash talk between the two begins and they get in each other’s faces. Things get physical when Garbrandt chokes Dillashaw and then a scuffle breaks out with both teams getting between the two coaches.
“He stepped towards me in my bubble, you know, got in my personal space,” Garbrandt said of the incident. “I latched him up like an eagle.”
“Eagle latched up a snake, right on his throat,” Garbrandt added.
“So, he called me fake and then attacked me, which just seemed a little crazy, right?” Dillashaw said. “I think it all leads down to insecurity. Cody is not very smart. He doesn’t have anything that he can say that is witty and he feels like he needs to create drama to be important.”
Garbrandt says that Dillashaw got what he asked for with the situation.
“He’s shook. He’s scared, Garbrandt said.” He’s the one that invited that fight. He got what he got.”
