According to a report from The Daily Mail, former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has been fined more than 700 euro ($788 USD) in Spanish court after ransacking a hotel room and stealing a taxi in Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands.
According to this report, Till and his cohorts have also been ordered to reimburse the hotel for the damage caused — a sum totalling more than 8,500 euro ($9,570 USD).
According to the original report on this incident, published in Spain’s El Dia, Till and his compatriots destroyed hotel furniture and emptied hotel fire extinguishers. They were unsurprisingly ejected from this hotel, and denied entry into another. At that point, Till and company allegedly called a taxi, which Till drove away in as the driver was loading luggage into the trunk.
Till was arrested by National Police on Thursday, and appeared in court in Arona on Saturday, where he received his punishment.
Darren Till last fought in March, in the main event of UFC London, when he was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal. In his next most recent fight, he was submitted by Tyron Woodley in his first bid at UFC welterweight gold. These setbacks marked the first two losses of his pro MMA career.
